Turkish delights

two cute guys.

But I wanted hummus!
We headed out on Saturday for a delicious meal at one of our favorite joints, a local Turkish restaurant. Vinny has been very good about going to restaurants with us. I remember thinking that I wouldn't eat out again, at least not until I could leave Vin with a sitter, but he is pretty good about it. As long as we bring a meal for him too. Sometimes he even sleeps through most of it.

Pureed chickpeas, for adults!
It really is such a gift to be able to have a hankering to go out here or there, to try a new coffee shop or have a nice lunch outdoors somewhere and to actually be able to do it. I kinda thought that once we had a baby we would be trapped indoors, a slave to this baby's whims and needs. But as it turns out, Vin's needs are very simple and he seems to like being out and about as much as we do.

Me and the littlest bear.
Every time we have been here we have been served by the same, sweet, little Turkish man. He always has a smile and his food is always great. We started out with hummus and bread, Andi had his favorite Iskender Kebab (chicken topped with yogurt sauce and sitting on cut bread in a tomato sauce) and I tried the falafel sandwich. Our meals here are usually followed up with a tiny glass of hot, black tea in these beautiful little glasses. It is a nice little touch.

Wait a sec, whose baby is this? I don't know any babes that cry.

  1. That's what you get when you tease a child with humus.

But really, this was a rare photo to take. Vinny became more and more upset with us enjoying our food while he was strapped in a stroller... But, every time I pointed the camera at him, he would stop whining and give me a smile. Finally, I caught the little cheater being upset. :)
