Wednesday was zoo day. We woke after a rough night of teething, which included about 3 nighttime feedings and some crying. This had been going on for about 5 or 6 weeks now and has been pretty rough on him and on us. We didn't have any trouble with losing sleep when Vin was a newborn, so I guess we were due some sleep deprivation during his teething time.
It was a wonderful 27 C (80 F) day, the sun was shining, and Vin and I were drawn out of the apartment early in the morning to convene with the animals at the zoo. The last time we were here it was a chilly day and the place was fairly empty. This time the zoo was buzzing with several class groups on field day. But we didn't mind. We just bipped and bopped around, stopping where we liked and maneuvering around the bottlenecks.

I knew it was a great idea to take the little guy to the zoo upon the first corner we rounded. After we had flashed our yearly pass, we took a right towards the giraffes. It was feeding time and the baskets hanging from the trees were full of hay and other giraffe delicacies. I found an empty, shady spot right next to one of these baskets where a giraffe was lazily snacking away and I leaned down to prop Vin up. Just as I guided Vin's eyeline toward the snacking basket, the giraffe leaned to the left and looked straight at us. Vin's expression went from curiosity to sheer delight. Ah ya, he is into the zoo!

You guys should work each section of the zoo each week, until you discover every little corner of that place. Then you can guide other visitors.
ReplyDeleteOr just see the penguins every time. Cause they rule.
